Žilina University

Žilina University (Žilinská univerzita v Žiline) is one of the leading public universities in Slovakia, boasting a rich academic history spanning over 70 years. It was founded on October 1, 1953, in Prague as a Railway College, before relocating to the city of Žilina in 1960 and being renamed the Transport University. In 1996, it adopted its current name to reflect its academic expansion and the diversity of its educational programs.

Žilina University comprises seven faculties offering a wide range of study programs across various disciplines.

The university participates in more than 200 national research projects and 65 international projects, organizing around 60 scientific and professional events annually. It is an active member of several international organizations such as the Magna Charta Universitatum, EUA, and IGIP, and is considered one of the most successful Slovak universities in the ERASMUS program in terms of student mobility.
